Again we were on the road for a full day to get from Mandalay to Lake Inle, but the taxi was pretty comfortable, the roads not too bad and the scenery really beautiful. We soon left the main road linking Mandalay with the capital Yangon, and after passing a checkpoint we kept driving uphill for a considerable time. We had enough of the souvenirs and left the gallery, to discover - this

These were on top of the hill and had recently been renovated, losing some of their charm

We were thrilled about the huge number of stupas slowly falling apart, though we also regretted this fact

They do offer a fascinating sight, but so much gets lost at the same time when they are not preserved
