I arrived back home in China last night, so may I first say xin nian kuai le, which is 'Happy New Year'. Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year, the year of the pig! Anyway, onto the subject of my blog....Bangladesh! 3 days before I left for China myself, back in August 2006, my parents left for Dhaka, Bangladesh, their new home for 3 years plus. In the 40 minute night flight from Dubai to Oman they served us dinner with Gulf Air, I mean with Ryanair in Europe you don't even get water. In the later flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh, we arrived early morning. The plane was full of Bangladeshi laborers from the Gulf countries returning home for vacation. I think Roz was the only female in the airplane, and blond with blue eyes she made quite an impact with the locals. Hi all! So it's been a while between blogs but I have good excuses all round! For about the last 2 weeks of my stay in Banlgadesh I got sick with a fever of about 38 to 41 degrees that lasted almost 2 weeks. Needless to say I felt CRAP, but am finally better, Hooray! Biggest thanks to Cam and Nic who looked after me and came with me for my blood test (didn't even hurt!). No Typhoid (Yay!) and just need to re-check the Dengue test back in Oz. The most random things happen in Bangladesh that would never happen to me anywhere else. For example, the other day I was visiting a small indigenous NGO and they got all excited that I was there and asked me if I would be willing to be the narrator for the English version of a movie they are making about one group of indigenous people in Bangladesh. Hello all, Well, I wish I had wonderful stories about life here in Bangladesh over the past week, but alas. I had to cancel all of my Eid plans and spend the better part of the past week in bed with a nasty virus which included a fever of 103 and any other symptom you can associate with either flu or cold.
