i dont know why either....

So in order to get to Nepal cheap i booked a flight on Biman Airlines.... the national airline of Bangledesh, and therefore had a night layover in Dhaka, the capital city. The airline was alright.. kinda sketch, esp. because i heard horror stories from two belgians who got stuck in the dhaka airport for 2 days when their plane had to turn around an reland due to too many technical problems. its also a little suspicious when the whole plane claps and cheers when the pilot successfully lands the plane without crashing. Because you technically need a visa to enter, we were all ushered from the airport into a bus and taken straight to Bangledesh's finest '5 star hotel''... not too bad by 3rd world country standards, but probobly would be considered a low level motel in the states. i did have hbo though which was pretty sweet concidering i havent watched real tv for a bout a month. I met a couple people on the bus ride over who were also in the same situation, and so we decided to say fuck the visa rule, and take a walk around the city... when i bangledesh right?? this was my first real experience with a true 3rd world country, and it def ws pretty depressing. there werent as many beggers as i expected, but still enough to make you a little uncomfortable. people from the age 3 to 80 would follow you with the saddest look on thier face and just hold out thier hand and bring it to thier mouth to show they wanted food. also EVERYONE is trying to sell you something/rip you off for 10 times what something is worth (relatively speaking). The streets were either dirt, or compeletly torn aparty asphalt or cement. it really felt like i was in a differnet world. the rest of the people i was with had all been coming from india and so they were used to it, but for sure it made me a little disturbed. after about a half an hour of walking around, we decided it was time to get back to the hotel, so we did. i was pretty drained from bangkok and the whole day traveling so i locked myself in my room, hung out, and wathced badboys 1 , and the final episode of average joe from 2002... primetime television for them. the whole experience was def eyeopening, but not as sketch as i had imagined it would be. i never felt unsafe at all so that was good. anyway, next stop kathmandu biotchesss....
