It St Patricks Day so I had an Ireland rugby shirt on!!

After two days going up the Beagle channel and then across the Drake's passage, which was extremely kind to us and so was nick named the "Drake Lake".

We arrive at the Russian base at Bellinghausen, on the south shetland islands in the afternoon and it is decided there is time for a quick landing to look around and stretch the legs. We get on the zodiacs, I was in the first one!! Not that I was so excited like a little kid or anything!

The temperature is abou 5C, but it always seemed warm as we had thermals, fleeces, coats, hats and gloves. Notice it is relatively far North so very little snow about in the photos.

Visit www.2041.com to see the weather at the E-base 365 days a year as it is powered by n-power renewable wind turbines. See if it can work in this harsh environment why don't more people use them at home. There are also solar panels on e-base to supply hot water.

The techology works, lets use it and reduce the CO2.
