Another season on the ice - Antarctica. This year I got to visit a few more places. I spent 1/2 day dive tending, I am sure glad that I am not SCUBA diving in Antarctica. No full face head gear is used. I also was awarded with a trip to the South Pole (sleigh ride). I have my load almost on the C-17. All loads that are being transported to Christchurch have a plasic bag on them to protect it from the rain upon arrival in New Zealand.

These C-130's with the eight bladed props were supposed to replace the four bladed C-130's so JATO's would not have to be used for take offs from field camp runways. However the eight blade props did not like the cold weather.

Sometimes it takes two Cat 950 wheel loaders to pick up a load.

This wire cable wheel weighs over 15,000 pounds and will be flown to the South Pole for use in the Ice Cube project.
