Ok so originally right now I'm supposed to be hiking Table Mountain, but due to the shitty weather we've been having all week the top of the mountain is still covered in fog/clouds and apparently a lot of people fall off the mountain when that happens. Plus, it's been raining non stop so there's a chance of mudslides or some crap like that. Either way, I don't get to hike a mountain. So what do I do? Pay good money to post pictures for all of you. Lets see... to sum it all up, basically we took a tour of the [View Full Entry]

Hey! Well, Africa was amazing, I am doing today's blog update on Malawi as there is just too much for each place to stick it all into one entry! Mark and I arrived in Lilongwe, Malawi after our 8 hour flight from London to Nairobi, layover for a couple hours in the AM and then 2.5 hours flight from Nairobi to Lilongwe. We were met by our driver/guide Henry and cook Raphael. We didn't yet realize that they were booked just for us for the first 5 days of our holiday. Henry was quite friendly and informed us about various things [View Full Entry]

Mount Sinai Africa » Egypt
We headed out to the foothills of Mt Sinai at 3 pm for a 6 mile trek to the summit. We joined our local Bedouin guide, Musa, at yet another security check point and started our walk. Not far past St Katherine's monastery, we had the option of hiring a camel for 85 EGP that could take us most of the way to the top. Not being the type to wimp out of the challenge, Rae and I declined the offers from the camel guides and trudged on up the path. Mt Sinai is 2285 m above sea level with the [View Full Entry]

So I believe my suspicions about Muhammad Isa were at least somewhat correct, as the place he wanted to take me last night for the souks apparently has no souks at all. Fortunately I did not have to deal with him again today. I woke up later (9ish), with the exception of the crazy call to prayer at 4 am! Don’t remember any dreams caused by the Malaria meds. Went shopping and bought a hat. I have agreed to go with the old Moroccan guy from the bus named Ibrahim on a two day tour of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. I think [View Full Entry]

After breakfast we caught up on the email and internet and reconfirmed that the car was arranged. We thought this wise given the car didn’t turn up at the airport as we had arranged. We knew we would have at least 4 hours up our sleeve to arrange [View Full Entry]

Okay guys I realise its been a while and Im sorry about that, however a hectic schedule and limited internet time has meant I have not been able to update at all since my last blog- o I will try and make this one as detailed as possible without writing an essay!! My last 2 weeks in Australia were so much fun and I was very sad to leave the Coyer family! I spent just around 5 days in Cairns where me and Mick booked a scuba dive session on the great barrier reef, beiong my first time I was a [View Full Entry]

Next destination: Marrakech, the pulse of Morocco. From Casablanca, we purchased two train tickets to Marrakech (168DH/$21). A few sweaty hours later, we arrived and asked a taxi driver to take us to the riad (guest house) we had booked in advance -- Riad Abbassia (online at ). Our taxi driver did not have a meter in his car and thus after negotiating what seemed a good price to us (200DH down to 100DH ($12.50)), we accepted the ride. The price didn't seem too bad since the guest house offered a pick up for 10 Euros and we had no clue [View Full Entry]

Day 27 (Sunday 17-May-09, NJJ) Had brekkie at Benji as Will said we can eat with them until we move on from camp. Sorted through our luggage at the tent in readiness for leaving Africa. Had lunch at the bar then returned to Benji to hand in our keys and say bye to Jojo and Debbie. We relaxed for the rest of the day at the pool and tent and then returned to Benji for our last evening meal with the Africa in Focus group. [View Full Entry]

Hello, School is finally over. As expected, I am relieved. I just returned from a great last-week-vacation. On Monday, I traveled to a small town in the Western region (near Cote d’Ivorie) called Busua. I awoke at dawn and hiked the approximately 12 to 15 miles through overgrown farmland, various types of forest, and 3 small villages to the small fishing town of Akwidaa. I was fortunate enough to get a bed in the dormitory of the famous Green Turtle Lodge. I stayed there for a few nights, hung out with some really friendly Peace Corps volunteers that were on vacation [View Full Entry]

Host fam up to no good again. About a month ago host mom shows me a brochure, tells me to save May 18th. Its to a hotel in Kamogawa, Chiba Prefecture(2 hours from Tokyo) called Arabianart - an Egyptian themed hotel (but really turns out to be more of a large bed and breakfast. We spent the weekend there. I had no clue why host mom chose this place; its pretty out of step from the gigantic 4 star resorts they are members too. But its a good thing we did. Great palace. We traveled with a few extra people - [View Full Entry]
