I spoke to my mom and my sister, Laurie last night and they tell me that the weather is turning colder. From what I understand, Stonewall, Manitoba has enough snow already to cover the ground and the temperatures in Ancaster are starting to head south.

Let me assure you, that is not the case here. As you are all grabbing for sweaters, socks and extra blankets, I continue to wearing flip flops, shorts and t-shirts.

When I arrived here, they assured me my body would get used to the temperatures and I would acclimate. Not true. I continue to amaze (and disgust) myself with how much I can sweat. Now don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a person who perspired a great deal at home. People weren’t talking about that behind my back... maybe other stuff, but I am sure sweating wasn't one of the things.

Here however, the temperatures are climbing and I break out in a sweat while sitting still in a chair. In fact I am sweating right now as I type this.

Sure, I was “glowing” when I met Camilla and Charles. They weren’t. It was about 95 degrees when they visited and reports say she almost fainted... but she didn’t crack a sweat. I think I saw her dab away something after being in the sun, but I can’t be sure it was sweat... Probably gravy.

I have included some rather unflattering photos of me. I am sure some of you will be disgusted, others amused, others intrigued... Needless to say, I am drinking tons of water to avoid dehydration.

And you know what the best part of the story is? The hot season doesn’t even arrive until January and February.

I'm going to be a dead man!

I left Canada on July 1st, 2011 and traveled to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I am happy to say that this adventure is beyond my expectations. First and foremost, my work with Femina (www.feminahip.or.tz) is great. Femina is a multimedia platform and civil society organization. It provides information and encourages open dialogue with Tanzanian youth, families and communities on important topics like sexual and reproductive health, economic empowerment and citizen engagement. Their approach provides voice to youth and gets them engaged in topics related to improving their lives. Femina ha... full info

I know your actually complaining of the heat.... But I would trade you any day! Although they are predicting a warmer than usual winter this year for Toronto, I'm sure there is still lots of snow and slush in our future! So enjoy the dew!
