Ok
so again I lose everything I wrote...
What I really want when using all these computer labs is a nonfrench keyboard that doesnt have keys that stick down but also keys that can be pushed down.
Anyways
got Ouaga
dealt with the normal tourist tricks bullshit that I am really getting tired of. The hotel you want to go to is always full but they know one (the taxi driver) which is cheap and not full.
Anyways you make them go to the full hotel and suprise it isnt full.
Then you have to deal with the hotel staff that demand you pay the tourist tax which is nonexistant.
All very annoying when it is 1am and you are tired.
The bus sucked because the woman beside me was really fat and needed to seats. instead I just got pushed into the armrest. One these big "luxury" buses they have 5 seats across and half the legroom of greyhound back home. I cant believe I now consider 5 hours a short ride. Combine this with no light to read with and freezing air conditioning the trip was a bit labourous.
Anyways, the city is very different from any other I have been in Africa so far. You could even suggest that it is well organized. There are trashbins, sidewalks (sometimes), a market with stalls (though there is something nice about the chaos of the average markey), streetlights, police, pedestrians streets, and police who try and do their best to stop hustlers. AND most important is it is illegal to hassle tourists: it is nice to finally be alone outside for the first time in the trip. No more friends that end up demanding money for being a guide, no more pleas for food, no more "come look at my shop" after promissing that they are just average people who dont want to sell you things, no more explaining that something can be nice but that you dont want to buy it and even better is that there is a variety of food! I ate turkish food today, yumm.
anyways
lots to complain about. The africans are far more annoying than the asians at being hangers on to tourists. BUT then again i do really stick out being a tall blonde white guy in Africa.
but fortunately Africa has given me even more to give praise about: natural beauty, the people are genuinely happy and friendly, i was never in physical danger and had lots of time to experience and give experience to the people of these uniaue countries.
Part of trip:
Spain to Nigeria and Home Again
