Dear Bloggy ones, We're back on line after a short recess due to homework, too tired to walk the half hour, too busy handwashing our clothes, helping Mama cook chapati, and learning our technical HIV/AIDS stuff. Things are starting to wind down, but there's still lots to cover. A highlight and wonderful break from the routine was a trip to Mikumi Nat'l Park last weekend. We saw so many wonderful animals in their natural setting: elephants, hippos, babboons, wildebeasts, worthogs, crocs, giraffes, impalas, elans, and others too numerous to mention. However, much to our disappointment, the lions were hidding. It was just the experience that everyone wants when they come to Tanzania. We are enjoying the other part of TZ, the people. We enjoy our contact with them as they are so very friendly and kind. We met with a group of men & women today to discuss their seasonal calendar so we can appreciate how much of their life is influenced by the seasons, the weather, and the crops. Kilosa is a farming area, growing rice, corn, sunflowers for oil, cabbage, spinach, casaba, bananas, oranges, coconuts, pappaya, mango, etc. The weather is still pleasant, but the TZ locals are cold. Hope the CA fires are out by now. Keep responding to the blog and write if you can. Mail call is a BIG event as it only happens once a week. Our forgotten camera arrived July 22 after Jenn mailed it on June 28. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONAH AND JOSH! We miss everyone and love to hear from you all. Love, Dave & Wendy
