Hi all,
Thanks for the awesome amount of support! I can't believe I leave in 3 days! Am I ready you ask? Definetly not.
Mum's wedding was on Saturday and it was a blast. Soooooooooo many people came. I didn't know that we knew so many people. Seriously. It was a great way to catch up with some old friends and bust out some grooves (that's right, you know I did!). I even shed a few tears of happiness at the ceremony. Saying goodbye to mum, Tessa, Maggie and Caroline was quite hard, I am really going to miss mum!
I went to Toronto for a few days to sit through an intercultural training course...oh what fun I had. I got sick on day 2, and
couldn't get out of bed. I was staying at Ola and Tzazna's and Ola was also sick, so it was a bit of a coincidence. To be fair, she was recovering from some kind of nasty infection, where as I just had some flu symptoms. I eventually had to go to my course anyways because apparantly if I didn't (according to my co-op coordinator) U of T would not permit me to leave until the end of next month. Honestly, U of T will be the death of me.
The course was ok, but the highlight was getting to talk to someone from the countries that we were all going to! The lady who spent some time with me is from Northern Zambia but spent a lot of time in Lusaka. She taught me some phrases in 2 of the major languages, gave me a swift overview of recent Zambian history, an on the whole, made me a feel a lot better about what I am about to do. Her friend works at the Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, so hopefully I'll be able to check it out and maybe volunteer there a bit.
So after Sebastian picked me up at the GO Station and only an hour into being back home, I had a breakdown. It was not so awesome. I had this guy fix my computer (he's our 'computer guy') and he announced that I would have to re-install iTunes (yes, all of my beloved music is gone) and Microsoft Office, which would cost...ohhh...about $400. You can imagine my reaction. Thankfully, I've been able to bum the software off of someone. I've also successfully re-installed skype, now I have to do the Office stuff, iTunes, and my digital camera.
BUT WAIT! The fun doesn't end there. I still have to pack, say a few goodbyes and pass my G test tomorrow! Wish me luck. The next time I sign in, I'll be in Africa!

Abby - you rock! Well, a little less than you would have if you hadn't lost iTunes, but you still rock! I fondly remember my three days of cultural training in Ottawa. It was, like, a few week after Erin and I got married. Glad to know that you've got an in at meeting some people in Lusaka too. It'll be great - fear not!
