Hello all! Have been in Moshi, Tanzania for less than a week but I am absolutely loving it and already know that 3 weeks here is not going to be enough. I have 2 weeks after the project before I fly so i'm half thinking about staying for another week here. As i flew into Kilimanjaro airport from Nairobi we flew right past Mt Kilimanjaro. It was absolutely stunning. I also have an awesome view of it from our balcony. It totally dominates the skyline here. I have however made a definite decision not to climb it. So, after a number of months trying to convince people to gamble online, I decided I needed another injection of adrenaline and set off for a couple of weeks in Africa. A two legged trip, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar (both in Tanzania), was decided upon in a monent of madness in a boozy Covent Garden bar. Although we have been in Africa now for 6 weeks, and whilst we certainly know we are in another continent, we weren’t going to really feel like we were here until we had been on Safari. So needing a break from the school and time to recharge the batteries after what has already been a long 6 weeks, we decided to head off to the local Arusha National Park to do a safari and spend the rest of the weekend relaxing in one of the lodges. We spent an hour or so in Arusha's town before the drive to Kenya. Here we had a rather surreal experience of sitting in an internet cafe next to a Masai warrior in the usual full dress. And we were also there when our new friend Laura found out the extremely welcome news that she's about to move to New York. So Congratulations for that, Laura. As you may recall in our last episode, Rachel had a run in with the toilet all night after a dodgy pizza at Stiggy's. Well she was very delicate for a few days after that, eating only very plain food to ensure that she didn't upset her stomach again. At 2200m above sea level we got a great night's sleep, away from the oppressive heat that has characterised so many of our Africa trip's nights so far. We ate a quick breakfast and were soon back in the minibus, christened Mystery Van due to featuring in Scooby Doo, and travelling down the crater descent road. Our driver, James, was evidently an off-road specialist because he was pretty good at driving today. His white-knuckle-ride display yesterday was nearly forgotten.
