Hey everybody---we are wearing jackets over here!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope y'all are enjoying July in the states, because when we head out in the morning it's around 60 degrees F!!!! 😱 Yep, we're wearing jackets for the majority of the day. Of course, we take them off in the afternoon, when the heat climaxes to 75 degrees. 😱
The day started out the same, folding tracts, singing a hymn, etc. Then we headed out. We held a Bible study with two women named Sylvester and Angela, outside in their open courtyard. Then we went back to MamaCarey's house and studied with her.

After lunch was incredible. The day before, I had made a nice little speech to the kids about how glad we were that they came, and to come back tomorrow and bring their friends.
They took me very seriously. In 24 hours, our VBS attendance had QUADRUPLED. Yes! We had 130 kids, as I counted in disbelief. At first, we tried to play Duck, duck, goose, but that proved to be a futile effort, as it's hard to get 130 kids into a circle, so we resorted to singing Bible songs.
We couldn't split up into more groups, #1,because we didn't have another translator, and #2, we simply didn't have more space.

We taught on Joseph, his entire life, actually. Then we had the kids make Joseph puppets out of paper bags. They colored on his face, and we helped them glue different colors of construction paper for his coat-of-many colors. We tried an assembly line, but it didn't really work. At the end of the class, we lined the kids up and started to hand them little bags of teddy grahms. It worked for about 7 kids. Then they totally mobbed us. It was nuts! Crazy! KECHA! Leigh and I nearly got knocked down with their swarming us. Finally we got them OUT of the yard and wearily decided we were going to have to come up with a different plan for the morrow.

That night, Khan's BBQ came to the ACSOP and we got to try another new food: mutton!
Church in Arusha on Wednesday was held around 4 o'clock, so we missed it. Instead, we had our own devotional at the School of Preaching. Grant and Corey taught on the Beatitudes.

Oh, and we were thinking about teaching a lesson on spiders the next day that Stephanie had given us. So we attempted to make spiders out of plastic cups and pipe cleaners. They looked like spiders....if you had a working imagination. We had to go easy on the pipe cleaners, so these arachnids only had 4 legs. Then we ran out and so we used string. Even I admit they didn't look like spiders....Crystal called them jellyfish! 😱
