Karanga Camp (13,800′) to Barafu Camp (15,200′)

We had a short hike today (3-4 hours). It was a weird day. Winds were hollering when we arrived at camp at noon. I found some brand new tiolets at the camp....after days of enduring smelly tiolets, you can imagine my joy at the sight of new tiolets...I think I might have been the first few that christened the new tiolets.

I had a quick lunch and went to sleep. I woke up at around 6pm for dinner (some people skipped dinner to get more sleep - now looking back, I wished I had done that). It was hard to sleep so early (7pm). I was anxious about the summit. A group of us were to start hiking at 11pm, an hour earlier than the rest of the group so that we will have a better chance to getting to the summit in time to see the sun rise.

I put on: 2 liner socks, 1 thick wool socks, ski pant, 2 wick short sleeve shirts, 1 fleece top, 1 Northface soft shell jacket, 1 Northface waterproof jacket with soft shell, 1 balaclava hat, a Northface ski gloves with fleece liner.

We have all our meals in this green tent and another brown (used to be white?) tent (not in picture). We get our daily water supply pumped from the yellow containers seen to the left of the porters.
