YIPEEH! I made it up the highest free standing mountain in the world, to the top of Uhuru Peak on Mt. Kilimanjaro to 5895m. What an experience. Here are teh pictures now! enjoy
.anyhow, the climb was probably one of the hardest things i have ever done, and one of the best experiences ever! 7 days on the mountain, camping every night, and then the push on the last day, or should i say night, since we left camp shortly after midnight to be at the top for sunrise!! From the last camp, Barafu camp at 4600m, we climbed 6.5 hours up a steep slope of a little scramble and then up a huge lava field to the top. So 1400m of elevation change, a distance of 4.5 km, and all that with little air to breath!! it is amazing how little oxygen is at that altitude!! anyhow, more detail later with the pics, just wanted to send a quick note that i am alive and very well!!!! and of course super happy! cheers SL

Congratulations on your successful hike up Kili! I've been thinking about you all the way along & am so glad to hear you had such an awesome experience. It was so great to spend time with you at Karanga...you're a great person. I look forward to reading your future blogs.
