Teacher Mentoring started last Monday. We went on an excursion with the year 4 children who are learning about harsh environments. The year 5 children are working on renewable energy sources so we designed posters in the library to show solar, hydro, wind and other forms. Year 6 children are selecting books to talk about as part of their topic, "Making the news." The library is brand new and needs lots of work in cataloguing resources and processing materials.... read more

Hi everyone! Jambo from St Judes! We had a wonderful week in Zanzibar. We saw lots of dhows which are very traditional sailing boats and buildings which are very old. Mrs Underwood says to say hi to the children that she used to teach at Kinross and to all the teachers. We spent 4 days in Stone Town and then went to Kendwa Beach where I went snorkelling and saw lots of fish. The weather was changing all the time - sometimes it was hot and then it would be raining. We have been at the School of St Judes since Sunday. I have been helping the teachers in the new library make some lessons and we will be starting those next week,. I wrote this last week but never got round to posting it as the internet is SO slow that it took another week to get the photos on, so sorry this is a little out of date already. Mambo everyone, and Shikamoo for the oldies out there (mambo is hi to people your own age, and Shikamoo is a respectful greeting for those older than you that literally means I will wash your feet). Based on the state of most peoples feet out here due to the dust when its dry, or the mud when its wet, there's no chance of this happening real soon!!
