We've been very busy over the last couple of weeks, trying to catch up on various jobs that have been put on the "back burner." George has resumed his Wednesday night class on the Family, and he has also resumed teaching on Fridays at the Andrew Connally School of Preaching. This current quarter is shorter than most, and so his class consists of four Friday classes, taught from 8-5, minus breaks and 1 hour for lunch.
One of the bigger undertakings here at home is a carport that George and Luke have been constructing. The garage here is not a huge one (although according to African standards it is pretty decent.) The landlord gave us permission to build a carport, and so George and Luke have been working on it as time allows. This weekend, when Jacob and Julia were home to lend a helping hand, they were able to get the the frame up.
On Wednesday, the 10th, the ladies met in the afternoon to visit one of our members who needs encouragement. She is a young woman, with a little girl, and whose husband is not a Christian. One of our ladies gave a devotional lesson,
and we sang a couple of songs, and prayed together. It is very humbling to see the living conditions of so many people. If you want to see what it means to be poor, come to Africa. I promise you that it will change your perspective .
Saturday, the 13th, the ladies of the congregation here in Moshi met together for another Teacher's class. One of the ladies, Anna, gave a very good lesson on Jesus, Our Example. It was her first time to give a lesson, and she did a wonderful job. It is amazing to see the spiritual development in these sweet ladies. As in most congregations, there is a core group who we know we can count on. We've had these classes for several months now, and there are about seven ladies who are there every time.
This coming Friday, the 19th, I will be teaching at a Ladies Seminar in Monduli, which is about 2 hours from Moshi. I will be teaching two lessons, based upon Luke 2:52.
Plans are in the works for George to hold a two day seminar in Machame, with the theme of the Family, a much needed topic.
Road between Arusha and MoshiWe've traveled this road many times, and it is reported to be one of the most dangerous roads in the world. (How those statistics come about, we're not sure, but we can certainly vouch for the fact t

Our hearts go out to the East Main congregation, in Stockton, CA. The wife of one of their elders, Thomas Bullock, suddenly passed away Oct. 6. This was a great shock, and a difficult time for the congregation. Your prayers on their behalf would be greatly appreciated. Our family has known Thomas and Cecelia Bullock for more than 30 years, and they have been a great asset to the congregation.
We pray that you all have a wonderful week. Please remember us in your prayers, as we continue to serve Him.
In Christian Love,
Joy
P.S. Thanks to Julia for all the photos for this blog. :)
George being test for MalariaGeorge was feeling pretty poorly a week or so ago, and so Stephanie Stafford tested him for malaria. Fortunately, it was negative, and George is doing much better.
