Jambo!! So over the weekend we went to Mikumi National Park, which is a little past Morogoro! We stayed overnight and went on a Safari the next day, it was so much fun!! We saw giraffes, zebras, wildebeast, baboons, elephants, hippos, rhinos, and more! We went in a jeep with a guide and he took us aorund the park. Musa and I climbed this HUGE tree that they had i nthe park, it was alot of fun. When we were driving to the park off the side of the road were soooo many baboons. They walk along side of the road and come up so close to your car! It was so crazy they were all over the street! We were contemplating driving to Ngorogoro in Arusha but it was wayy to long of a drive. ... read more

Finally arrived at Dar Today started out like any other day except Suitbert was up in time for breakfast - maybe that is what upset the ying yang of the day hmmmmm. We went to the Mwanza office and discussed the Fire Escape and alarm needs and we went off for our 2pm flight, when we arrived at the airport we discovered there was no 2pm flight but that we should have gone at 12.40, we were put on the 5pm. we kept ourselves busy watching others getting their flights and having drinks then Mike realised he had lost his best glasses, After almost 2 hours of looking for them phoning people and ripping bags apart I almost begged the gods for something else to go wrong before we got on the plane so that our ... read more

Powa That means - How are you? (Mambo) Good/Fine (Powa) the Africans have had great fun today teahing me Swahili and find it hilarious when I get it wrong :) but can I get them to say Funky Cheese to the camera.... no way :) I started off deep in thought this morning, I had been reading that when we flush the loo we use more water (7litres) than many Africans in poverty uses in a day so I was watching the sprinkler covering the grass at the hotel thinking that this was wrong on so many levels - I see men out in the street carrying buckets of water to their home and here is a hotel throwing it all over the floor. Todays training sessions was fun, Mike pretended to be a victim that ... read more

So this weekend we went to Bagamoyo. We stayed in a nice hotel! We saw so many lizards here, I dunno why?? When we were looking for hotels we went to one and they were literally everywhere!! It was crazy. We visited with one of my father in laws cousins and her family when we were there. They were really nice! They have 6 children and one on the way, the kids were very cute. We went swimming at the one hotel and also went on the beach there. We went to Kaole to see crocodiles. When we got there we were walking on the farm to the spot where they kept them and musa nudged me and pointed to the owner's hand...he only had half a thumb!! When we got to where they were we ... read more

yes you read that right, I was informed today that if a man arrives home and finds a Masai Warriors spear on his front garden then the warrior is WITH his wife and that he is to leave and never come back ... well there you go folks... imagine that in Berkshire! Trained some of the guys today, Mike has asked me to do a section on workplace inspections so this will be short as I will be working into the evening on it, but I will leave you with a picture of a lovely bag that I received on my doorstep this morning with a newpaper in it, a recycled bag - for all those who believe me to be a green nutter - I truely love this bag and wonder if I shall get ... read more

Wow - Terminal 5 is amazing, I was very impressed with it and for those of you watching Little Britains Come Fly with me I swear I saw Taaj on the tarmac! The Flight was reasonable, seemed to go fast, I watched Toy Story 3 and had a beef dinner before getting my head down which is when 2 Cheryl Cole wannabe's decided to have a long conversation about shopping and shoes - the BBC has alot to answer for after sending Cheryl Cole to Kilamanjaro... any how moving on... I have arrived safely .... We were collected by a nice chap that works for the company, his name is Suitbert (Sweet Bert), he made sure we were safely sent off with the driver and we will be meeting with him early tommorow morning. when we ... read more

Just started planning a road trip to Dar es Salaam, from Johannesburg, and back. It well known that the anticipation, and reminiscing has nothing to do with the reality of the African bureaucracy, heat, flies, and potholes but here I go. At this time it is early day's but the rough idea is as follows: Start +- 8th of April 2011 in Johannesburg South Africa on our faithful steeds BMW GS1200's myself and Johnnie Mayer, cross the border into Zimbabwe at Beitbridge-Mussina and make our way up through Harare to Nyamapanda / Mozambican border. This area is called the Tete Corridor and is not far from the Cahora Bassa dam wall with some excellent Tiger fishing and accommodation. From Tete the idea is to travel on the Western side of Lake Malawi and East of the ... read more

Landing in Tanzania. 1:30 a.m. $100 visa at Immigration. Customs. Why on earth does the only flight from Johannesburg to Dar Es Salaam land a 1:30 in the morning? Just the beginning of all things backwards. All of this just so I can sleep on a bench in the airport until 5:15 a.m, catch a taxi into Dar Es Salaam and begin my search for the “easy to find” and “everyone will know it” YWCA hostel. Exhausted. Confused. Frustrated. Luckily through all this I made two new South African friends who endure this grueling process right along side of me, Lindy and Matt. I finally found the YWCA just as the clock struck 6:15 a.m. Unfortunately, I find out at this point that it does not officially open until 7 a.m. and that they will not ... read more

Jambo! So yesterday we went to FunCity, which is a new amusement park they built. It has a waterpark too. Alot of it is still under construction but it was still fun. Apparently no one goes out during the week here becasue we were the only people at the park. Literally our car was the only car parked in the lot. The upside, there were no lines and we got on all the rides right away! We are going to go back another weekend when tere are more people there and also take Aslam with us and go swimming at the water park. Can't wait!! Oh yea and i tihnk I amy have been dehydrated that day (although according to musa it is something white people made up casue i asked him how to say it ... read more
