OK - I'm back. I accidentally hit publish instead of save on that last post - so I'm sorry about the errors. I couldn't figure out how to go back and edit.
Anyway, I want to share some pictures with you of our mini 24-hour safari just outside Dar es Salaam at the Saadani Safari Lodge which is located inside the newly designated national park. We had a wonderful time with Coenrad our host, Mary our hostess and John our Safari driver. Our tents were located right on the beach of the Indian Ocean and the atmosphere of the lodge is all natural - even the electric cords are coiled in natural fibers to look less intrusive. Animals often walk right through the lodge - as we witnessed with the monkeys and the bush pigs. After an afternoon safari, we came back to a swim and dinner followed by a relaxing and inspiring night on the beach gazing up at the Milky Way and searching the night sky for shooting stars. We saw plenty.
But rather than chatter away, I'll let you see a bit of our adventures as the Saadani Safari Lodge via pictures.
Oxpecker and a GiraffeHere's a common site on the savannah - an oxpecker that lives on the animals and eats parasites off their skin.
Lion TracksThis is the closest we got to seeing a lion. We saw its tracks in the road.
Baobab TreeHere's a typical sight in Africa - the Baobab tree. This one, although quite large, is only a medium sized Baobab tree.
Sunset on the SavannahWhat a sight at the end of our safari. This setting sun meant it was time to head back to the lodge.

Oh Deer!We came all the way from Connecticut to see more deer? OK - this is a bush deer - not the kind we have in CT - but they sort of look similar.
Pumbaa - The Warthog FamilyWe ended our early morning safari with a spectacular view of this warthog family. They're so ugly they're cute.
Sleeping BeautyAfter a very early morning, Angel needs a little catnap to recover her energy.
