We're all packed up and ready to go! The suitcases are all lined up in rows in the living room and this morning we are going to worship in Moshi to say farewell to the brethren there and then George will be driving us up to Arusha where we will visit with the congregation there this evening and stay the night with Cy & Stephanie before getting up Monday morning to catch the 7AM bus to the airport in Nairobi, Kenya. The adventure home begins... Safari Njema will be the phrase for the day... "Have a good Journey!"
Timothy came by to say a more personal good bye last night and dropped off the plans that he had drawn up for the proposed school building out in Boma Ngombe, so we will have those with us when we travel if any one would be interested in helping us build the school. The cost will be significant initially, but then it will be a permanent school, being run by a member of the Lord's Church in East Africa! I can't begin to tell you how huge that is! The land is bought and paid for, so we are now entering into the 2nd phase... Plans have been laid out and are now being bathed in prayer!
The kids are all so excited about seeing friends and family... It seems like the last week has just flown by with preparations, getting the house in order, food laid out for the dogs, bags packed and covering everything with sheets to keep the african dust out while we're away! We decided to take the kids one last time to the beach to enjoy the warm equadorial sunshine on the african coast one last time before entering into fall and winter back in the states... we missed the cooler months last year leaving just before they arrived and being in the heat of the African months here, December is the hottest time of the year in Tanzania! So its been a long time since we've felt Chilly or cold! I'm sure we'll feel like we're just freezing, after coming out of the heat of Moshi.
We did some exploring in the city of Tanga while we were there for possible future work in that area. It's an unreached plethera of oppertunity with surrounding coastal villages and tribes. The city has the basic needs and stores for food & supplies and will be an open oppertunity for the growth of the Lord's church in East Africa. We saw school children walking down the beach home from classes and they would strip down to their undies and dip in the ocean to cool off... fishermen and their wooden D hows out casting their nets and doing things the old fashioned way! (it still works) We took a Dhow ride out to our favorite sand island where we stood alone... on the crystal clear beach sand and could walk the island and see the children playing where ever they decided to run... the water as clear as glass.. you could see the bottom even 12 feet out... the kids made sand castles and searched for shells and we returned back to our favorite over night camping spot at Peponi for $4 a night of paradise! ( which is "Peponi" in swahili) Only in Africa!
Well we can't wait to see everyone and give your necks! Oh the stories we have to share... and we're looking forward to a great big glass of cold milk and grilled cheese sandwhiches again as we share in some wonderful company with loved ones! Keep us in your prayers as we travel and we will see you on the other side of the ocean in just a day or two! and please keep the other missionaries here in your prayers as well as we are leaving they are our family as just as much as everyone back home is, and we will miss them dearly.
Love you all so Much!
