We've had a relaxing, fun time with our family. We gave them a taste of TZ at our site. so many of our new fridents welcomed them into their homes complete with TZ food and warm TZ hospitality. After our site, we headed to Tanga, Pangani Beach, Zanzibar, and ending up in Dar es-Salaam where Jen and Dylan fly out on Monday evening. Hopefully they feel relaxed by now before the 20 hour flight home. We met another PCV Katie and her sister and parents doing a similar trip. I'm glad we had a whole month to see as muc as we did. We've eaten fresh fish every day, read numerous books, played cuntless games of Hearts, and talked about everything. Dylan seems ready for College and UOP will welcome this 3rd generation. Jenn is serving on the Alumni Board so she'll have the perfect excuse for visits.
Pangani Beach was a delight with incredible and unspoiled scenery. At Mkona Bay Resort we had an incredible experience staying in a luxury tent on stilts while the Indian Ocean sang us to sleep each night. Our hostess, Lisa, was a PCV and her Danish husband Ulrich had thought of everything to
make it a memorable vacation. Good food, norkling on coral reefs, and vervet monkeys were all in abundance along with pool, beach, mangroves, and fresh fish (and dessert) daily. Zanzibar was reached in a motorized local wooden boat in 4 hours with boxed breakfast on board. We stayed on the North end of Zanzibar called Kendwa Rocks. It has long undeveloped white sand beaches, palm trees and lovely warm aquamarine waters. It defines Island Paradise. Then onto Stonetown for the history and and spice tour. It's the complete opposite - North vs. South part of the island Stonetown has the city noises, smells, and vendors, But, the architecture is so Middle Eastern. We took the fast ferry to Dar after 4 nights in Zanzibar. Dylan and Jenn are great to travel with and we've really enjoyed their company. Bye for Now!
