Guz in IringaWalking down the street in Iringa at sunset - guzzy being weird!!
ok only have 3 mins time left, uploaded some photos will put some more up tomoz and finish this blog - i wrote a relaly long blog yesterday but comp died and i lost it...TIT!!!!
Ok so our holiday was spent chilling out, doing things very un-african. Everything we did was such a luxury and things we hadn't done for up to 6 months!! We spent a day at a beautiful beach 10mins out of dar central and were the only wazungu there which was fun. We went to the movies twice and saw Pirates 3 and Oceans 13, we went shopping, ate food with flavour, used a washing machine, went to american-indian themed restaurants, went clubbing, wore makeup, wandered through shopping centres that looked exactly like Hornsby Westfield and sometimes we'd even forget where we were. At some moments it became unsettling, especially in the shopping centres where rich wazungu shopped in Levi stores while all the workers were Tanzanian. We decided it's fun for a day or two to escape but lingering any longer it just begins to feel weird and slightly colonial..I prefer Iringa to Dar.
We spent a few days in Iringa which is
where we did most of our shopping, at kitenge shops and the small but charming masai market. I also introduced Guzzy to Neema Craft's warm chocolate cake and ice cream! We had fun just hanging out with the other vols. I love Iringa and would love to come back and live/work there...me and a few of the other vols have even been throwing a couple of ideas around..im sure you'll hear all about them later on!!
But its back to placement today, with no idea where Neema is or when she is coming back. Only 2 months left in placement but school doesnt go back for another 1.5weeks so will be doing some activities with the community, like a sports league with health seminars before the games. Hopefully will be good!
Take care everyone!!
