Yayy..im super happy right now because all my blogs have come back! I was stressing out when they all disappeared because im stupid and dont record events and stuff in my diary so this was my only record of my life here! haha...i think mum you should print them all out right now!! WHenever i write a new one, print it!
Only 2 weeks left in placement and then a 3 day debrief and celebration in Iringa and its all over. I can't believe it. Athough I'm going to be sad to leave all my friends, students and my Tanzanian family in Lugarawa I am ready to travel. Weirdly I'm getting itchy feet even though im thousands of km's from home and certainly not doing nothing!! Next Sunday is our community festival which is our last big hurrah and then we just have lessons for a week and thats it.
Village has been really wonderful over the last couple of weeks. I really feel I've finally settled in (a bit late but oh well haha) and i've made some wonderful friends and have really been appreciating the beauty of Lugarawa and the people that live there. There have been some bad times (like our basketball court money being stolen - which we're trying to sort out- and many missed days of school because of various reasons, mostly the teachers using the kids to do work) but mostly I've had a ball playing with my band of children who I've befriended, chatting with students, playing netball, cooking with my friends/substitute mothers, meeting a group of Austrian Doctors, dancing with my tanzanian mother, learning Tanzanian songs, answering questions about sexual health.
A real highlight was our first sports league match which was a huge success - over 200 ppl arrived to watch, we did a talk on STI's which was well-received and supported by village leaders and everyone was super excited for the game, even though the players were pretty bad!! I was especially happy because we even managed to get a ntball game going, which is tough (although they havent turned up to play since, small steps!). Our finals wll be at our community festival and we also have the local VCT (HIV Testig service) coming to offer its services to the villagers, so hopefully we'll have some people test.
What else....dunno...small stuff that sounds silly but makes me happy :)
GOODDDBYE!! Next time i write will probs be after the end...how weird!! ahhh
