So today I was so excited because I found an internet cafe I could upload pictures at.
But the drive isn't working on my computer, and all the other computers are full.
so, no dice.
Anyway, I'm in Knysna.
I left Mossel Bay Monday afternoon.
Rolled in to Wilderness.
I wish I had photos, because no one will believe how beautiful this place is.
And the hostel had the most fantastic view.
We walked along the beach until it got dark (me and my new mexican friend, Enrique), and then headed back to the hostel to sit around the fire for a few hours, chatting to some other tourists.
Tuesday was rainy and kind of cold.
I walked in to town, had some coffee, nothing too exciting.
At about 4 o'clock, 5 new people came to the hostel.
Matt, an English guy, took me to the Map of Africa to watch the sunset.
Then back to the hostel, where Casey (american chick) had organized a poker game.
I was of course the first person out, since I was getting bad hands and getting bored of it.
But it was still a super fun night.
Wednesday was my last
WildernessMe on the beach at Wilderness. I was supposed to look serious and reflective- instead I'm laughing, as always
day in Wilderness, so we decided to walk to the Cave.
There used to be a train (it's more like a trolley) that ran along the coast by Wilderness.
It stopped about two years ago, and now I guess walking on the tracks is a good way to get around.
Also, Annie, the lady who owns the hostel, told us of "the cave", a place on the tracks where homeless people live and will serve you coffee.
So me and Enrique take off walking.
We're feeling pretty good, until we get to a tunnel that collapsed and there was no entry through it.
We decide the best way to go is to climb up the side of the mountain (in flip flops), to the highway, where we can see a wooden path going under the road.
So we get to the end of that wooden path, and see a handmade sign for the cave, pointing down the hill.
We paid a dude a couple rand to point out the path, and down we go.
Thankfully, someone had made steps out of logs, rocks, added rope hand rails, and added signs and arrows so we could find our way.
We
Wilderness-hostelThis is seriously the view from the kitchen in the hostel. I still can't believe it.
got back to the tracks, walked through a dark tunnel, and finally found the Cave.
The story is it used to be a restaurant the train would stop at.
but the train stopped coming, and everyone forgot about it.
Now, two crazy homeless dudes (James, who's shy and harmless and makes pretty good coffee, and Clifford, who used to belong to a cult and God told him to come there) live and serve coffee in this little whole in the wall.
There's still a wooden platform from the train days, and bathrooms, and Clifford has decorated the space with a thousand shells, palm leaves, a whale bone... everything.
It was crazy.
So, after listening to Cliff talk about God for half an hour, we decided to keep walking down the tracks.
Over a scary bridge, through two more tunnels, and we finally made it to Victoria Bay, a nice little surfing spot.
There was 6 or 7 guest houses there that really bothered me, but we had lunch and ice cream which was nice.
Walked back, said goodbye to our new friends at the Cave, found the RIGHT way past the closed off tunnel (there's a path

over the rocks. we just didn't see it) and back to the hostel.
I came to Knysna so I could do some banking and get some cheap internet to upload photos, and now today I'm heading to Plettenberg Bay, which I'm really excited about.
I met some people in Stellenbosch who own a hostel in Plett, so I know it'll be a good time.
I'll try and get photos up soon.
Talk to you later!
The Cave 1Walking along the tracks to the cave, this is where we lost the trail.
The cave 2So this is the hill we climbed up, to the highway. NOT a good idea in flip flops.
Victoria Baywe kept walking towards Victoria Bay, over these tracks which was a little sketch.
Victoria Baythat bridge we walked over. Cliff, from the Cave, told us this is the bridge God showed him and he knew when he saw it he was meant to live in the cave.
