Since the last entry we have stayed at Bucanneers in West Cintas. Took quite an adventure to get there (4 hours late and many wrong turns). Seems the South Africans like to change the names of their freeway exits to confuse travellers. Really nice hostel on the beach with lots to do. Friendly staff and free wine. Spent 3 days on the beach, suntanning and boogie boarding. Nights drinking, playing pool and bbq'ing.
Then we were off to Plettenburg bay. Arrived in the evening and left early to see Monkeyland.
Lots of different types of monkies and even more hungry mosquitos!!
Highlight of the day was definately Cheetahland. Many crocs, lions, tigers, jaguars (but no bears, oh my!).
Got to play with and get pics with a cheetah and a white bengal tiger. Up close you can actually hear them purr . . . at least we thought it was purring.
Now we are in Hermanus- the best land based whale watching on earth. Tommorow we go out for the day on a shark tour. The 3 of us get into a cage while the captain drags bait to lure great white sharks near our cage. The tour goes to shark
alley (look it up in national geographic).
Tonight we are all excited to wacth the Carolina Hurricanes beat Buffalo in the nhl. Ryans playoff beard is coming along nicely. Quite a resemblence to the lions mane the other day.
Monday we head to Stellenbosch for an all day wine tour.
So if there are no more entries, assume the sharks got the best of us. Here are some pictures in the mean time.

Hi Ryan, Meg, and ...uh.. Heather. Long time no talk to. Those pictures look amazing. What are you guys doing, just travelling the world for the hell of it? That doesnt sound fun, come back to the lowermainland, and get into the weekly grind like everyone else. Anyways, don't get mugged in South Africa! Evan.
so envious of the tiger pics....cheeta didn't look to thrilled though. lol
Glad you're are playing it safe, eh! Glad you're having such an exciting time! Everybody at school, 350 of them, were so impressed with the tiger picture! Al took a copy home... You're living our dreams of an African adventure! Being safe, while having obvious advantages, can be thrilling too, ya know. You're going to drag meat to attract the sharks closer to your cage, eh! Waiting for you have to post the, "We're alive and well," message. Have a riot!
Hey guys! Great stories and photos. I must say I am extremely jealous that you are in my motherland of Africa (well, my father's motherland anyway) before me. Doh.
Getting ready to tie the knot in just 5 days. We'll send you the link for photos upon returning from the Mayan Riviera June 12. Don't forget your Larium drugs for those nasty mosquitoes.
