After leaving Knysna we headed to Wilderness. This was our last beach stop before heading to Cape Town and the last chance for sun as overcast weather was forecast for Cape Town. The Beach was again amazing - stunning white sand with massive waves but the strong current made swimming dangerous, plus there were plenty of blue bottles so I was hesitant as vivid memories of being stung as a child are permanently etched in my memory. But we only live once and Trish and I went for a swim on Thursday morning before we left for Cape Town and we have both survived, unscathed, to tell the tale.
The drive to Cape Town brought us closer to the cloudy weather. It was a bit of a shock to go from hot sunny days to overcast and wet weather so quickly. Cape Town in an interesting city that is built around mountians, the most famous being Table Mountain. The aerial pictures that I saw were amazing but I didn't do a helicopter flight so I can't show you - sorry.
During the few days we were there we explored the V & A Waterfront where shopping and restaurants were
Little dassie's sitting on the stairs
Believe it or not but the closest living relative to these little guys is the elephant! plentiful. We drove to Cape Point, the second most southerly tip of South Africa and where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. We saw pengiuns at Boulder's Beach - the were so people tolerant, barely battering an eyelid when you walked near them. Making use of the cable carts, we went to the top of Table Mountian (after climbing Kili I was perfectly happy to fork out the small fee for the ride). I didn't expect to be able to do this due to the cloud covering the moutain for most of my visit but it cleared long enough for us to get up there. We attempted to watch the sunset from Signal Hill but it was rather overcast and the clouds really didn't sit favourably as the sun set. And in between, we sampled more food and drinks at various restaurants and bars at the Waterfront, in Camp's Bay and near our apartment.
I am now homeward bound. My holiday has come to an end and I must return to reality to save for the next trip!! I hope you've enjoyed my travel tales. Thank you for leaving comments. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to reply
to many of them but I was great to get input from you along the way as it felt like you were here with me.
Til next time....
