Hello,
Well, as many of you know (as I managed to phone whilst I was there) I spent saturday and sunday visting Kruger National Park. For those of you who don't know it, it is S.A's pride and joy of a national wildlife reserve, it's 110 years old this saturday gone and it's the size of Israel!!
I didn't get to see it all but what I did see was pretty amazing. I am currently backing up the 400 or so photos I have, then I will upload a selection onto www.flickr.com (just search for Joe Court on the site), this may take a while so expect a steady dribble this week whilst I have the internet.
I was driving my own 4x4 bakkie, I didn't even have to pay for it as Tsepo, one of the guys i'm working with, lent it to me for the weekend (I have given it a thorough clean as a thank you). The driving alone was great fun, you sit very high up so can see quite far, and it could handle the gravel dirt tracks with ease.
I saw a whole range of animals. No big cats unfortunately but at least i've got something to go back for! Highligths for me were catching a Rhino deep in the bush, watching a herd of 7 zebra drink at a watering hole, having an elephant cross the road infront of me, likewise with a Giraffe (totally amzing) and watching the sunrise from ontop of a hill on the Sunday, probably the most awestruck I have ever been.
The whole trip was just fascinating, v. exhausting too, I was going to stay another night initially but I am glad I didn't, I have been recovering today... you know, sitting in the sun, having food cooked for me, reading my book.... did I mention they do my laundry here? They even ironed my boxers, it's genius!
I believe mum has my mobile number, once again I have come to the computer without my phone, so ask her. Feel free to text, I'm sure it will only cost the earth :)
And happy fathers day dad, I'm glad you liked the whiskey, I put a lot of thought into it :)
Love to all,
Joe:)
ps. OMG!! I almost forgot to say: I have a hat! It is fantastic, massive safari type, choc brown leather, awesome! :) that is all.
pps. I've finally figured how to upload photos direct to this so I'll give that a go first.
ppps. Second that, it's taking ages, I'm going to use www.flickr.com instead.

Send Private MessageGreat to talk to you on Saturday. Do you mean "sunrise" in the blog or sunset? How much is petro/diesel out there? Sounds like you've got a good deal on the laundry - creases in your boxers?! Very impressive!
By the way, Wapi choo? means "where are the toilets" in Swahili. What is the local African language where you are? I think Swahili is a bit further east and north.
Habari means "How are you?". The third word in the other phrase in the title should give you a clue as to what that means.
Looking forward to the photos. Cheers
Blogging Dad
:) although the most spoken language in Africa i've been told is Zulu, that's what most of the labourers speak, but I've had no problems with communication. The other big language I've heard is Africaans. And yes, I did mean sunrise, and sunset, I saw both! Lot's of hassle with the photo uploading, I was going to try again now but I've been sorting out logistics for Tanzania this weekend, I fly on Saturday, so i've been on the net too long already. Will try again tomorrow. Over and out, Comment Responding Joe.
This all sounds amazing Joe - especially the elephant!
have fun and keep blogging!
