Day 1
Anyway - flight was fine and had a nice day with Grace and Theo in J’burg. It was a Bank Holiday and we took the new Gautrain (the 1st high speed train in Africa no less) - that had been only open a couple days, to Sandton - a posh shopping area, where almost everyone was wearing gold and green in anticipation for Bafana Bafana’s match that evening.
Then it was time to head North to somewhere called Rooiberg - what turned out to be a one street Afrikaner holiday resort. The owner of the pub that I found that was showing the game, even took me to my picture as they “didn’t get many foreigners in there” !!!!!! watching soccer was clearly a new experience to a lot of them and whilst most were cheering the admittedly few SA attacks, they were a bit smug after ‘they’ lost. Then back to the B&B room - without heating ……. AND IT WAS FREEZING.
