b4takeoffThe South African Airways Airbus awaiting departure.
Well the flight over was a really cool experience. As I requested I was given a window seat; infact I was the only person in economy apart from another guy infront who had a seat to themselves. It seems everyone was bunched together tightly squeezed except us. Being served 2 meals, coke was on tap and the leg room bareable my journey to South Africa went without hitch.
Arriving at the airport was met with some impact. Realising that 90% of people are coloured, the whole airport staff where black... something I have never really been around.
I've been here for a couple of days now. Security seems to be the main issue. Everywhere you go there are gates, electric fences, security, huge dogs and a sence of terror. Everythings been pretty much low key since arriving; mainly visiting the shops and playing with the kids. A few amusing things have happened so far though; on the way to the shops yesterday I had my camera on stand bye (to take pictures of all the sellers that surround your car at traffic lights) anyways; there was a bunch of black men climbing a wall into someones yard; i managed
takeoffThe view on take off from Perth Int. Airport.
to take a picture and a video clip of the event; very amusing when a police car to the right was more interested in my Aunty on the phone than the would be thiefs jumping someones fence.
I forgot my cord for my camera, so am searching around for a replacement; untill then I cannot upload any pics.. nothing to speccy anyways, apart from scenary a thiefs :).
Well I have feasted like a king during my stay so far but its time to turn up the notch as my first adventure looms. Still awaiting a phone call from my cousin on my pickup details through to zimbabwe... it seems i may actually be flying out instead.
