Hi All,
I'm am healthy and well after a knackering journey over, but nothing a quick sleep on the hostel bunk bed and a night out in Jo'burgs Melville area couldn't sort out!
Well tomo at 5 in the morning I catch my bus trip to the kruger national park for 4 days which speaking to people here who have already done it it should be awesome!
There isn't a whole lot to do in Jo'burg as its all shopping malls etc cause of safety however today I visited the Soweto region which is where the apartheid leaders sent lots of the natives back in the early 1900's. It was very interesting and i saw and heard some sad things, but the blacks seem positive about the future however i don't think the whites are quite as enthusastic shall we say!
I went to Nelson Mandela's old house and went to Desmond Tutu'd local pub (well if he drank i'm sure it is where he would go as it is just over his garden wall!
Any way i'm looking forward to moving on as there isn't many people in the hostel as a few i met all
had to leave for flights and other trips. It seems that this is what back packers use jo'burg for is just a stop over.
Anyway have a look at the pic's the graffiti is by Mandela's house and is of Walter Pieterson age 13 who got shot by police in the 1972 riots!
Enjoy and email me if you fancy it!
Lots of love Tom x x
