Oh beloved Africa! There's a new surprise waiting for us every day. This morning my alarm was Emile, one of the employees we met the night before. He was calling at 8am to ask about our plans. Really?! 8am on a saturday? Geez! After just laying around til 10 o'clock we finally decided to get up. One of the employees got us some tea and samosas. We talked to Jaqueline the manager of the motel and she told us every last saturday of the month Rwandans got together and volunteered. They then gathered to build new streets, fix houses etc. That's a pretty cool idea, but I don't think it would work out in a western country, cause people there are always busy. The stores opened at 2pm and Nellie and decided to go for a walk and check out the stores. Every few minutes we could hear Rwandans whisper to each other "Mzungus!". You kinda feel like an animal in a zoo. One guy who was chilling on the street asked for our names and where we were from. we had a little chat and when we were about to go he said: "Jo, I give you my heart!" Alriiiiiiiiiiight... Here and there I could use my knowledge of the few Rwandan words and people were always excited when I asked them "Amakuru?" We finally arrived at some market and Nellie and I got really cool belts for like 1,20€! When Nellie decided to get some minimagos a whole crowd gathered around her to see what she was doing. There were at least 15 people watching her. After walking around a little more we called Yves and arranged a meeting for the next day. To make sure we get spots on the bus we got the tickets early and back at the motel we played our newly discovered game, Skip-Bo. Afterwards we went to get dinner. We wanted to go downstairs at 6pm when the buffet opened, but we thought it would be embarrassing to be there at exactly 6 o'clock, because punctuality is such a German stereotype (although I doubt anyone in the restaurant had heard of it). So we waited for like 10 minutes until we could go. During a blackout we got to enjoy the romantic light of a candle stuck in a Fanta bottle. So nice!
