The day after Xmas, Calbar held its first ever holiday parade. I got a little camera happy and also took a number of movies, which give a fuller representation of the festive atmosphere. Just right-click on the link to download.
(or Ekpas) who often frequent the Calabar streets even when there isn’t a carnival going on, “scaring” people into giving them 20 Niria (~20 cents)
of a group from Northern Cross River State.
These people had been marching for 2-3 hours were I took these and had another 3-4 to go!

www.calabargal2.blogspot.com Cheers!!!
Duke is a gift. Carnival is wonderful and captivating. Happy being a Nigerian. Long live Cross rivers. Carnival will attract tourist into the country. When are we having the next carnival?
Calabar Christmas Carnival was fun filled all the way, its something everyone looks forward to every year. I dont usually miss it. I have at least over a hundred pics on my PC of some people at the carnival. Duke has really done a nice job introducing it.
The cultural renaissance which Gov. Duke has revived in CRS odd to be a model for all the states in Nigerian, but especially the south south which has a rich cultural heritage. This is what people all over the world would lcome to see, then go home with memories about the people. I was there and had a good time. I do plan to be back next year and after that.
the Calabar Carnival and Festival is here again, the cross river xmas festival promises to be the event of the year. the official website http://www.crossriverfestival.com includes a discussion forum.

I love cross river state because it has become the best state in the Niger Delta where people can come spend the Xmas holidays without fear of the dragon. The government should continue to encourage and partner this carnival. I promise to attend and participate in the carnival'2008 in Jesus name Amen.
Thanks

The have made excellent effort to bring Nigerian and of course the world together at Chirtmas. They have created funs for fun lovers. Cross River State is indeed, the Canaanland. Calabar is the Paradise City and first Capital of Nigeria. Cross River State is the New Jerusalem. The Land of the Chosen people of God. A New Paradise, the City of God. The Natural wonders of Cross River State-Agbokim, Qua Falls, Etara Onughi Hills, Obudu Cattle Range, to mention just a few, and in addition her rich tropical rainforest, one of the most reserved ecosystem in the world all fullfilled the Scriptures that in the Canaan City is the Birthplace of The Messiah who is to salvaged mankind from all their sufferings by giving to them a Promisedland. it would be a land with bounties where The Lord Himself would be there. Where The King of kings and The Lord of lords would Shelter the Chosen. There would be no need for light of the sun in this City because the Glories of The Lamb shall brighten all the dark ends of the City. But Who is This King of Glory? Has He come to Calabar, the Canaan City? YES! How do you know Him? He shall wear a RED Garment (Gen.49:8-11;Isa.63:1-5;Rev.19:12). His followers shall put on white garments (Rev.7:1-14). And He shall be called by a New Name which ONLY The Lord God shall reveal (Isa. 62:2;Rev.2:17;3:12;19:12). This Name is NOT JESUS. For Jesus is not a NEW NAME. While you dance around carnival jubilating that Calabar is clean and green; a Paradise City. Search for The King of this City. Stop all forms of immorality and Soddomy. FEAR GOD!
NIAJA BABE FINE DIE...I LOVE THE CARNIVA
why do we pay extanal singers than we in calabar and yet we do better than them pls see into these
I must commend on the last calabar carnival 2008 which brought all the ethnic group both in cross river and other state in nigeria together as one nigeria.the idea in which Donald Duke initiated has expose a lots of people who lacks tourism concept in both nigeria and despora.well, appreciate all the good work of our dear former governor because he really turn our dear state to a mega city in west africa as a whole he really make us proud because without his concept we will still be in darkness.if i have my way i will make him a president but is quite unfortunate that nigeria has not yet embrace the true and transparent democracy if not so don would have been our president come 2007.i also appreciate the good work of mr Larry Esin who contrubuted immensely in cross river state tourism i pray God should remember him and crown with all his glory come 2010 election in akwa ibom state.
thanks frm edet aduak.
Well, i really appreciate the hand work of our dear Governor in the person of Governor lyie Imoke and the our Dear exgovernor mr Donald Duke who brought from darkness to light with his fanciful and beautiful idea of turning our state to world trade and tourist centre were people from all the continent come to pay a visit.
i appreciate the good work of Donald Duke may he step into the shoe of the president yar,dua come 2010.

from Calabar
Cross River State and Lagos State have consistently thought us for sometime now that there is hope of a brighter future for the people especially the youth of this country. Our only problem is leadership. The federal government should sit up and encourage these governors to do more for the people.

God bless u as u lead cross riverian to paradise.
We are a potential destination with great sites.Govt. should partner the private sector to advertise our tourism destinations better. We must hurriedly create a site that integrates advertisement of our locations, hotel reservations;airline bookings. In fact it should be a whole package that should provide comprehensive information that will guide would be tourist to the letter .I will also advice that this is not a job that government bureaucracy should be saddled with .Govt must partner the private sector in this regards.
All the same you are taking the right step. Do keep it up.
In wrte to express my greatest moment watching calabar carnival of tyhis year, 2009. It is indeed the darling biggest show and the most exciting program i've ever take my time to watch. Up you! canival in calabar cool, and xperience for everybody!!! come celebrate XMAS IN CALABAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a well in time concept.my suggestions is that cross river state government should encourage its people to tap from this package by way of sales eg complimentory t-shirts sold to friends of neibouring states etc.but for these to be achievable there has to more spent on adverts in all states in a gracefull team and package.
we have upcoming artists, which we will like them to perform on the next calabar carnival, could you pls send me an information on how we can apply, the date, and venue? thanks
Grateful to the government and people of cross River state for the carnival vision which is making history all over the world.

How i Nigeria as a nation would see the need to join calabar christmas festival/carnival and make it yearly end of year celebration were all Nigerian would come together of the end of the year to celebrate beuty and tourist of our dear motherland.
