This succulent plant was in the grounds of Rivendell guest house, the best value single room in Windhoek....recommended.
Not a blog per se more a brief itinerary of my trip

to Southern Africa earlier this year between dates 14th Feb and 18th March 2011.
Starting trip in Cape Town South Africa and travelling 17th Feb on the overnight Intercape sleeper bus to Windhoek capital of Namibia. Stayed at Rivendel guest house....best value single room in Windhoek! Stayed 3 nights.

From Windhoek on the overnight sleeper train to Swakopmund...beautiful sleepy coastal resort...stayed at Villa Wiess backpacker lodge. Went on half day 'Living Desert tour'...guide Chris Nell. Stayed a couple of nights and got a local mini bus back to Windhoek.

Back at Rivendel guest house booked 10 day 'Delta and Falls Safari' organised by tour operator 'Wild Dogs'.
Highlights being Okavango Delta. Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls.
Tour started Friday 25th Feb Windhoek-Ghanzi, Kalahari, Botswana.
Day 2; Ghanzi-Okavango Delta. Botswana
Day 3; Okavango Delta. Botswana
Day 4; Okavango Delta-Caprivi, Namibia.
Day 5; Caprivi, Namibia-Kasane, Botswana.
Day 6; Kasane, Botswana.
Day 7; Kasane-Livingstone, Zambia.
Day 8; Livingstone.
Day 9; Livingstone-Rundu, Namibia.
Day 10; Rundu- Windhoek.

Back in Windhoek Sunday. Stayed at Rivendel booking another tour, a three day tour to Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert.

Cristuskirch, built during German colonial rule.

Tuesday 8th March.
Day 1; Windhoek-Sesriem
Day 2; Sesriem-Sossusvlie.
Day 3 Sesriem- Windhoek.

Friday 11th March Intercape Sleeper bus to Cape Town.

The last week was spent in Kalk Bay in Cape Town.

Flew back Friday 18th March.

These are the iconic Himba tribeswomen normally found in the very far North West of the country. Often said to be the most beautiful tribe in Africa, although not judging by this motley crew who were spotted flogging souvenirs in Windhoek.
