looking for the local school, think we may have had too much berber whiskey.
Salam hali cou, this is the extent of our Arabia well that and “beckham” which means how much? - definitely required for shopping trips through the crazy medina’s markets dodging motorbikes, pushbikes, donkeys and the millions of cats ( that make me miss jungi). Luckily the camels have to park outside the medina.

So we loved Morocco, Kristy’s favourite country and my second favourite after snowboarding in the French Alps: if only the snowboarding was better in Morocco I would be completely sold. Such diverse scenery from the crazy market cities of fez, Tangier and Marrakesh where bartering has become a way of life for us. Although Kris is not much of a wingman - while bartering for a Moroccan drum her comment was “that’s a good price”. No wonder my shopping success was limited and yes we needed the drums Kris and I are going to have to busk to keep this holiday budget and eat.

Back to the Moroccan scenery. Such contrasts in this country the white washed beachside villages (chefchauen and essoaria) that remind us of the Greek islands, to the High Atlas mountains where I had to bushwalk( I really don’t get

it) what is fun about walking all the way up a mountain to turn around and walk back down again. I really never will understand bushwalking or bird watching for that matter. So while Kris and the rest of our bushwalking freak tour group walked pointlessly around the mountains I had a chance to go into a local village school, which was an amazing experience. I spent time in the classroom or primary and infants they sang me songs and gave me paintings to keep. In return I gave them Agadoo and YMCA. Don’t u just love cultural exchanges. We are going to sponsor this poor school with paints, pencils and other stuff thanks to Kristy’s mum. They have no resources or equipment and they still had control of these kids.

From the mountains we headed to the plains and towns, where they filmed Gladiator at Qazzasata. Into the desert riding camels (the Berber 4x4) into the mighty Sahara dunes for a night of Moroccan drumming and star gazing. No southern cross was a bit weird. Camping ion Berber nomadic style was amazing drinking Berber whisky which tasted just like mint tea and us destroying Moroccan music by

letting Aussies anywhere near a musical instrument.

In addition to this diverse countryside was the random Moroccans - who eat vegemite to sell u a rug or the bus driver that threw bread from his moving vehicle to stray dogs sitting on the side of the road. And Action Cous Cous a man who was in Gladiator apparently and who could turn a Cous Cous cooking demonstration into his own action movie. Yes I went to a cooking demonstration. These Moroccans kept us very amused, as well as the women of the Moroccan bath house (hammam) that let down their guard of took of their robes how ever u want to picture it really…. These Muslim women who are so conservative in the streets but who definitely leave there inhibitions behind in the bath house unlike us timid westerners very bizarre…

Our injury list is short. I tried to water ski across the bathroom floor in Marrakesh due to the non existent Moroccan plumbing . I fell down a gutter on the road in tangier trying to dodge a donkey, other than that we both had bike and camel bum (tip: stay off the hump) and

it took us a few days before we felt 100 percent after camel burgers and snail soup. Which I think may have contributed to Kristy vomiting on a windy bus ride she said motion sickness I say camels revenge. Even though we think the Chinese in Tangier did more damage serves us right for ordering Chinese in Morocco on the Spanish border.

All in all an amazing country and an amazing trip. Next we hit Spain bring on the sangria, flamenco dancing and beachside entertainment. ….. and yes I have written a Camp K and K it must be Kristy’s turn again J Hope things are going well where ever u are and that this email finds u happy and healthy and loving it

Take care K and K
