I love Marrakech and all it has to offer and as such have been several times, each time I have stayed in a different Riad, if you are staying in Marrakech you must stay in Riad so that you can actually get a feel for this superbly cultural, contrasted and exciting city!
Each hidden doorway and narrw alley leads to something new and exciting to see and you should definitely not be afraid to poke your head around the next corner to see what is there.
The people in Marrakech are lovely, warm and welcoming and will often offer you a sweet cup of mint tea especially if there is a chance of doing a deal on anything from a carpet to a kaftan!
My stay this time was to celebrate a special birthday for my wife and so we decided to stay at Riad Farnatchi which was just superb. From the second you arrive you are made to feel as if you are the only person who matters to the team of superbly efficient and charmingly discrete staff. The rooms are the biggest I have seen in any Riad and have all the mod cons but keep the wonderful charm of a true Luxury Marrakech Riad. If you want to stay in the top place in town then look no further! I asked them if they could do something special for the night of my wife's birthday and they certainly manged to wow us, they set up a private dinner in one of their beautiful courtyards with candles hanging from the trees and lanterns everywhere it was truly stunning as was the superb Moroccan food that they served.
We will definitely be going back to morocco soon and we certainly will not have to look for anywhere to stay providing Riad Farnatchi has a spare room for us! Check out their site www.riadfarnatchi.com
