Entry from Irene:
Welcome to our Kenya blog! Here we will do our best to update you all about our volunteer project as often as possible. It all depends on the availability of the internet wherever we are, of course.
We're taking off in one day! I'm mostly packed up, just have a few more things to take care of before I'm ready to go. I almost can't believe this day has come-- the five of us have spent the past few months hard at work with planning, researching, fundraising, and preparing for this trip. We've had a lot of help along the way, of course. We are indebted to Didi Ananda Ruchira, founder of Abha Light Foundation, and Ameet Aggarwal, ND, for giving us the opportunity to serve and learn from the people of Kenya. Closer to home, I want to thank
Moksha Yoga North York and
Capsuline for their generous support of our mission, as well as all our wonderful family and friends who have helped make this project a reality, whether it be in a financial, practical, emotional, or spiritual way. Your help and support have been invaluable to us and we deeply appreciate every once of energy you contributed. You have all made this mission possible. And no, I am not trying to rip off the movie.
I think I need to take a step back and breathe before stepping on the plane. It's simply amazing how we managed to pull all of this together. Right now I think I will embark on this journey free of expectations and open to all possibilities. I simply can't predict what we'll experience over in Kenya, and whatever I might expect would probably be proven wrong anyway. But that is precisely the beauty of travel.
