So I decided that it is time to leave. If I was aggressive I would have left today. I am getting used to the maid service the driver services, hot showers, and not having to do anything....time to leave.
I went over to the mall, I was very impressed, it looks like the South African's have a strong influence on the country and not so much from the UK or US. There is no Starbucks. I spent the day enjoying having coffee, touring around. I wasnt feeling too well from some of the food I had yesterday so today I took it easy. We went out for coffee with Jogo (Shemin) who's family has a factory in Angola that makes paper products (diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygene pads). She was explaining to me that Luanda is one of the most expensive cities in the world because of the oil companies. They have inflated the economy. She lives in South Africa and invited me to go there, I may consider it because of the flooding in India. She apparanetly lives next door to my brother-in-laws relatives.
I went to the bank with Shainaz today, that was an experience. Apparently, there are a lot of bank robberies. The entrance to the bank required you to walk through 2 doors. You are buzzed into the first door and that door has to close before you can get buzzed through the next door which opens up into the bank. There are about 5 teller windows each teller is behind a bullet proof glass room. The security is very high here. Shainaz was pulling out about 400,000 KSH so she wanted me to come along because she was a bit nervous. The parking lot also had a number of guards and you couldn't easily drive off with out going through security.
In the evening we went to preview the video that was sent to the Aga Khan of the games with his son. It was an hour long video and it was impressive. The quality of this production was incredible.
I took an afternoon nap which turned into a 4 hour nap followed-up by a back massage by one of the maids. I watched MTV here and amazing enough it was all videos the way MTV should be. This life is too good. When I have little to write about on my blog I am not doing enough.
Will I come back to Nairobi, I dont know but not likely on this trip. I am off to Arusha, I can be on top of Killimangaro on my birthday if I can organize it.
