GHANA ROXZORS

This is an angry note with lots of cursing just to let you know in advance.

Oh you know, today was your typical Ghanaian day. The world shat upon our faces. My room was broken into and all of malina’s money for the REST OF THE TRIP (which she got out of the bank LAST NIGHT) was stolen. She had to get out the rest of her money because her bank is switching from visa to mastercard and they don’t do mastercard in Ghana. All of my American money was taken but it wasn’t much compared to Malina so I’m not going to complain. The horrible creepy part is that the door was locked when we left and locked when we got back but the money was gone. We were also in the hostel but just down the hall. Fucking awesome. Someone has a key to our room- this has to be the only reason why this could happen. And true to Ghanaian fashion, nobody is doing anything except going “AYE, oh I’m so sorry” but refuse to see that someone obviously has a key because it was locked when we left and came back! There are no windows without bars, no other way in! So, cool. Great. I’ve had a really horrible week to begin with what with Eddie dying, falling in a gutter, general being sick of being here and other personal issues but I have been trying my damnedest to be fucking positive and this is fate spitting on my face for even trying. I made Ghanaian friends this week, I volunteered for an extra amount of time - I did everything I could to make this week not wasted and a good experience but oh well. Also, now we can’t trust anyone and have to be scared to sleep because anyone could come into our room at any time. When we pointed out the safety issue to the porter of the hostel she grabbed our arms and said “oh, I promise you will be safe”. Thanks, that makes me feel much better. Yay Ghana!

I'm sorry that i was so negative- it was just me venting- obviously this is not the country of Ghana's fault- it's just a very very unfortunate situation. In the words of the Leslie family (malina's fam) "it's either a good time or a good story".
