Well...as you can assume from the heading, I am now in Amsterdam eagerly waiting my flight to Ghana!!!!!! Things went a bit smoother today, but I was still not over my bad luck.
After I checked out of the hotel I caught the airport shuttle which dropped me off right where I thought I needed to be at SEA-TAC. I went to check in with North West Airlines and they said they couldn't issue my boarding pass because it had already been issued by Horizon/Alaska Air when they re-booked me yesterday. I guess the lady who helped me yesterday had no idea what she was doing because when I asked her if I needed a receipt she said I didn't need anything and that I would have no problem checking in. Then I had to trek to the other side of the airport for the Horizon service desk to give me an e-ticket number. I told the customer care agent my predicament, she had no idea what to do, so she set off to find the manager. 15 minutes later she came back and got on the phone with someone. Not very reassuring because she kept giving me weird looks and saying "ohhhhh". Eventually I got what I needed and I headed back to the NWA ticketing counter. This wouldn't have been such a big deal but remember, my suitcase and backpack are broken.
Finally checked in, headed up to the departure gate and it wasn't long till we were able to board. I handed over my boarding pass but apparently TSA had failed to stamp my document and I had to go all the way back to the security place to get a stamp. They proceeded to empty out my carry-on bag and purse, wasting another 20 minutes. Eventually I did get on the plane, feeling very pestered and a bit frantic.
Things started to turn around though because the plane was pretty much empty and I got 3 seats to myself. Anyways, just thought I'd send this off to keep you all posted on my whereabouts.
Ahhhhh travelling...always an adventure. Oh well, its Ghana and pretty much anything is worth it for me to get there. I've been informed that I'm going to reggae night as soon as I arrive!
Love Akos
