Sigh, not much to report because today is the first day I have stepped outside my hostel since 6:30 Friday morning because I have been sick, of all things with a throat infection, how exotic I know. However, it had my fever up to 103 for a few days and the rest of me in too much pain to sleep much...so basically the last few days have been wretched. However, some good points remain:
1. I am getting better!
2. My mom, Perry, and dad succeeded in almost making me feel as if they were there to take care of me with their faithful phone calls and reassuring voices (THANK YOU!)
3. My friends here were wonderful bringing me water and juice, food when I could finally eat again, AND a lap top and bootlegged season of Desperate Housewives to watch the last 2 days after the major sickness had passed. Plus, my roommate Maia took me to the hospital at 630 am when the night before we had only gotten 4 hours of sleep.
4. the hospital gave me the right antibiotics apparently, because today is pretty good
the bad points being:
1. i am wimpy and being sick is horrible horrible in ways I don't want to write about
2. had to get another blood sample taken (AHHHHHHH!) :(
3. i have now spent 200 dollars on medical bills in Ghana. ughh
so not much else to report. except one thing I keep forgetting to write about...mold.
Ghana (the humidity) grows it, indoors, in our hostel rooms, just about everywhere. We go about cleaning it with bleach and it just grow back. in our closets, on our chairs, beds, desks, on clothes, shoes, papers, plastics.....
camera is still refusing to work. it turns on but then closes back up. (AH!) still hoping it will just work one of these days
ok hopefully more good things soon!
love love love
Kristin

Your mom told me you were sick and I have been waiting for this blog entry...a sign you are getting better. There is nothing wimply about getting sick in a 3rd world country and getting better! Hopefully that one is behind you and you can back to all those great experiences! The mold sounds gross...on your chairs????
Hope you are completely yourself by the end of the day and on to telling us all about your great experiences!
Hi Kris, it's so good to hear you are feeling better and that you are able to resume tackling the mold problem! We are all sending healthy bacteria your way so I'm certain you will stay happy and healthy.
not sick again! poor kristin :-(
well the good news is, if you were in the US w/o health insurance there you would have been paying like 62073468327 dollars.
i'm glad to hear you're feeling better...i was wondering where your blogging went!
and even though there's mold on your things...lets not lie. you've lived in a dirtier places (3815 dawson).
miss you!
Here I am so worried about the dangers in Africa - well, guess what I heard on the radio. A woman was bitten at Pitt by an 18 pound research monkey today! And it had been probably been used to study diseases! Puts it into a little better perspective for me. Be careful. Love, Mom
