“Tropical Blend” is something we generally relate to fruit juice.
Kirk and I live and work in the tropical rainforest areas of Ghana.
Our Ghanaian family is quite a blend of tribes, cultures and languages.

African Tribes: Kusasi (from the north), Ewe (from the east), Wangalla (upper east), Ashanti (central Ghana), Fante (central coastal area).

The nine of us come from EIGHT different families.
8 different families
6 different regions
6 different languages
2 different continents
and
4 different countries

Wow! All under one roof -- well that is … once we get a roof. That’s still a job in progress.

The variety of people we have in our house took my mind wondering around our neighborhood. In our cluster of 5 houses (42yrd X 60something) I began to question; How many people actually live in these five houses? We have one house to our left and right and two in front of us on each side. Each house is a one story building. To say, “I was amazed at the number!” is an understatement. The number is staggering … 82 people!! My mind continued to question, “So how much space do we each have of our own?!”

After measuring the square yards and doing our calculations we discovered that we each have a cozy, private living area of 4’X5’. Within that cozy area we must include our chickens, goats, dogs and cats as well as other belongings. No wonder we all enjoy the village!!!

As I post this I notice todays date - it's Valentine's Day. I imagine most of America dressed in red! I hear you asking, "Do you celebrate it there?" Yes, we celebrate it here but it has become something ... Well, let me say, years ago it was celebrated by giving your mother, father or friend (in the purest term) a card of endearment. It's not that anymore.

Kirk is LOVING his new truck. What a blessing! So amazing! So unexpected! That it came from a Ghanaian doubles the intensity of it all.

Next weekend I hope to be in a place where I am able to post pictures to the blog.

Praise and I are off to the village sometime this afternoon.
Wishing you a most wonderful week. Full of little blessings and surprises from our Creator.
