We thankfully woke up after both sleeping relatively well considering the racket outtside! I woke up at about 1 or 2 with a prayer being blasted from one of the nearby mosques which seemed to last forever but then went straight back to sleep. We both got up and had showers which flooded the bathroom due to the no sided shower! But there was hot water which was good!
We had a morning of skyping our families as we don't know the next time we will have wifi and be able to skype, which was lovely! Really good to chat with everyone and hear about whats going on at home.
We had organised a transfer from this hotel to our hotel where the tour was starting, however we hadnt heard anything from anyone about what time we were getting picked up! We contacted Expat Explore (our tour company) but they were shut in the weekend, called the Oasis hotel (where we were being transferred to) and they knew nothing and told us to call Expat. So we searched their website for another number to call and found 2 emergency numbers. The first transferred us through to the same guy
at Oasis and the 2
nd we have no idea who we got but in jutted English he said we'll be there in 10 mins!! Dont really understand the deal but turns out he did turn up in 5 mins so he must have been on his way! He apologised for being late and we didnt even know he was coming but obviously he had been given a time.
We spent an hour in his van taking us to the Oasis Hotel and it was still complete chaos. There was lil white vans going up and down the street with people just climbing on as they were moving, just mental. We asked someone later and they said they are like mini buses that go up and down, you jump on them and pay 1 EP which is 10p, and you just literally jump off when you want. We made it to the Oasis in one piece and it was so lovely! Really big and like a resort! Obviously where all the tours started as we saw a lot of On the Go staff. We checked in and caught a glimpse of the pool which was so nice so we got
changed quickly into our togs and headed down to the pool for the afternoon. The water was freezing but so refreshing! We had lunch and a drink by the pool, I finished my book and Ben went to the gym for an hour also. Good afternoon!
We went down to the lobby at 6pm to meet our group and have a briefing but we couldnt see anyone from Expat. Discussing what would happen if it was just the 2 of us in the group and whether they would cancel the tour, our leader then found us and took us into a conference room with 3 others. He told us there were 7 also meeting us in the morning as they had late flights. We got filled in on the tour from Michael and I learnt what a Feluccia was and that we were booked on it for 2 nights! Just a slab of wood on a boat, no toilet, no facilities, nothing! I looked at Ben and was just like oh god there had better be another option. Thankfully he was trying to get everyone upgraded to a nile cruise instead and to also spend a night and day
at the red sea which would be so nice so we jumped at those options and have now upgraded to 3 nights on a 5 star nile cruise! Sounds fab!
One of the girls Larisssa, had her birthday today so we went out and had dinner and a drink with them and she had a giant cake that we got into. However we didn't have plates or cutlery as the restaurant was going to charge us to eat the cake there so we flagged and sat in the foyer. Put the cake on ripped up pieces of our itinerary and hoed down! Was yummy! Everyone in our tour sounds lovely so far, albeit the token person who seems very irritating but I am sure itll be a good 9 days!
