Hi everyone just a quick update to let you know we are all safe and well.
We arrived in Egypt tonight around 10pm, didn't get through checks until after 11pm and arrived at hotel at midnight. We had to have a thermal scan to check for swine flu...a first! There were a bunch of doctors and medical staff wearing masks and we had to stand in front of a camera that projected our core temp on a computer to check for temp spikes.
Then it was a nightmare getting our visas, then through passport checks then getting our luggage and then through customs! It was a cattle free for all I am telling you! It was very rough and tumble...welcome to Egypt!
Lucky for us we were met by our guide who helped us SO much, and a funny guy to boot!
Driving through Cairo and seeing old beat up cars with smashed out windows with 20 people packed in was a culture shock! Then getting into our hotel where police and their dogs check the van and then you go through a medal dector to enter the hotel is a little strange and leaves you wondering 'what have we gotten ourselves into?' BUT at least we are safe and sound.
Off to the Pyramids tomorrow.
I hd better get to sleep - up in 4 hours. Eww!!
Oh by the way our room is swanky, the bathroom here is as big as our entire hotel room was in Paris!
Woot Woot! Dxx
