May 3, 2006 - Day 18 - This morning we crossed back into Botswana and directly into Chobe National Park. We had about 80min of driving in the park and saw nothing. Got to camp just outside of the town of Kasane. Had some time to go into town while others got some US dollars for the next portion of the trip. Turned out to be super boring and a painfully slow experience. Got back to camp in time for those who were taking an optional game drive. I opted for the evening cruise instead, which turned out to be a mistake. On the game drive they saw lions close up and bunches and bunches of elephants. Elephants on land, elephants in the water, elephants everywhere you looked. On the boat cruise we saw about 5 elephants, always reasonably far away while another boat was right where they were. We did see some hippos, which was nice. Although disappointing game-wise, we did have a beautiful sunset on the water.
