Happy first of Feb! [break]
Last night, we finished rough drafts of our proposal to study food aid and its elimination in three districts of Eastern Uganda, our draft survey, and our draft interview protocol. Our general plan: survey 125 people at each of 3 districts, by going to each food distribution site and surveying 20 or 30 at each (depending on the sampling). The survey includes questions about a bunch of food security and access issues, like how many meals eaten, dietary diversity, etc. Then we would do in-depth interviews with a handfull of people, to get a full picture of what food aid means to people living with HIV/AIDS. What do you think? Any comments are welcome. [break]
Now, would you like carbs with that? [break]
We eat carbs only...
- Corn flakes for breakfast. Or toast. Ok, occasionally, eggs.
- Tea with chapatti pancake or samosas for snack
- Posho (hard maize grits), rice, matooke (plantain mush) for lunch (with some smattering of beans and one chunk of meat)
- Sometimes, toast for a snack. Or a clif bar.
- Pasta or rice for dinner. Or, as the photos shall show, pasta AND rice for dinner. :)
Carbs!Belinda is enjoying our fried rice with pasta!
toastDelicious toast with butter! We are on our third stick of butter in just three weeks here! Oh my! (We did make pancakes three times though, so that used some)
delicious deep-fried doughI don't know if I can call this a samosa, although it has the shape. It is just delicious, deep-fried dough!
lunch todayThis was lunch today (Feb 1) - pared down with only rice, meat, and g-nut sauce (groundnuts, taste a bit like peanuts). Yummy!
checking email at homeWe are in the process of getting unlimited Internet at home, but we have it pay-by-the-KB now, which is too costly to use very much, but works for checking in.
