I am officially tired!
Just come back from a 2 day trek through the jungle, after over 4 weeks of doing hardly anything, this showed that i have been living a lazy life.
My busy few days started on fri night where we went on a night trek through the jungle up to and through- where i took an involuntary splash onto my bum...no harm done apart from a wet bum and wet sandals...we then relaxed ontop of some rocks where there was an amazing view over Chiang Mai...definately worth the trek and the splash lol. We then made the trek back down to the truck with no harm done, i watched part of Pulp fiction before i retired to my bed and to pack my bag.
The following morning i was picked up early (8.30)...it was meant to be about 9-9.30 and i was taken to the tour agency and waited for other people from other hostels to be dropped off...my trekking buddies were 3 french people, a couple who came from one place and could speak english quite well and another french lady who lived in the mountains (trekking was her forte) but couldn't speak any english- not good when the guide couldn't speak any french...we had a mini translation going on...i can understand thai-english and french-english to translate both ways even though i can't speak thai or french- to speak either would have been very useful.
We started off the trek and went to a market to have a nosy around...then carried on driving into the mountains for lunch and then we started the 4hour trek through the jungle and mountains...i am officially unfit and my health must be deteriating as i was actually wheezing and struggling to breathe at one point (after 2-3 hours going uphill)...my legs are lovely and scratched- self harming and all that- well being scratched by a million and one twigs...the last hour of the trek was lovely and mainly downhill (we did take our time to avoid any accidents)...we eventually arrived at the camp at 5pm where we were staying in bamboo huts. Just to make sure we were knackered we then did a 20min trek down to a waterfall where the crazy french people went in- i was too tired and the water looked cold (it was getting late so not much sun to heat me up afterwards)...we then did a marathon walk back up to the camp- i first thought the fast walking was because it was getting dark but today it proved that the guy (different guy to the one who took us trekking yesterday) just liked to walk fast so i Oi'd him which he found funny and he sort of slowed down.
Yesterday the guy showed us all different types of vegetables and fruits that were growing- including some that we tasted- naughty naughty but i won't complain- can't beat fresh fruit.
Today we also went on a 15min trek to the elephant riding place then a relaxing elephant ride then an hour trek where we were picked up and taken to the white water rafting place- after the first lot of rapids it was good fun, going up to the first lot i was on the front and was quite daunting but after that i changed to the back and i got use to it- a lot of fun and definately recommend.
I am now tired and just about to head off to the night market.
Head off to Laos tomorrow- got a 6hr bus ride to the border then a 2 day boat trip down to Luang Prabang where i will be staying at Spicy Laos...
Will probably update about the sunday night market before i head off tomorrow at 12.
Hope everyone is well and having fun :)
