I have recieved a pretty apt comment that I should chill and take it easy for a few days well I am doing that here in Boracay but I hate to sit still for too long as travel here is extremely time intensive and my time is running out. Three weeks is nowhere near enough to get to just the major sights.
Yesterday I caught a trike at 7am to the Jeepney pick up point then a few hours later a mini bus then after another 2 or 3 hours I arrived Roxas Port to be told the ferry had just left.
Then a security guard told me to run and I might make the boat which I did, (this saved me an 8 hour wait), I then got off the boat in Caticlan. For some reason the boat sat off shore for an hour and a half. Then I had to run from the boat to the terminal in the pouring rain, when I got to the terminal they have a trike scam going where they slug you 80 peso for a short ride to the Boracay boat port, you are then forced to pay for a
Jeepney
Mindoro row boat to take you 10 metres to a pump boat which takes you to the island.
On arrival I then had to get another trike across the island and then wander around trying to find a decently priced room. After that it was all good, a decent meal, a wander down the beach and a cold beer.
Still a pretty trying day after all that.
I was woken this morning at about 6am by some chick trying to let herself into my room when I opened the door she bolted, I will have to talk to the hotel people, not that it will do a lot of good I suspect.
Boracay is a wee bit like Bali or Ko Samui and I like the atmosphere here, perhaps because it is off season. The weather is a bit all over the place but I have no problem with a bit of warm rain. It also doesnt have the sleeze of Manilla or Angeles which is nice. There are a lot of foreigners here, mostly Japanese and Korean but there is the occasional white face, and not to many old blokes with young Filipinas either.

Port of Roxas
Ferry to Panay took care of the only thing I had to do this morning and have booked my flight from Cebu to Clark so now I can relax, with 7 days to go I should be able to have a good look at Panay, Negros, Siqujor Islands and maybe a little bit of time to see Cebu City.
Well the weather just keeps getting worse there was a sand storm on the beach that nearly flayed me alive so I hung in my room and watched the Asia Cup.
I had to go through the same rigmorole the next day when I left Boracay, but finally I was on the bus to Ioliol City (ee lo ee lo) the ride was picturesque, Panay is rice fields and water buffalo, real Asia. The city however is unattractive, I stayed in a place on the river which was old and drab but clean.
I also checked out the old Spanish church and belltower in Jaro, they were interesting enough.
Up early this morning and in a cab to the docks for the hour fast ferry ride to Bacolad in Negros, I have decided that I will stay a few days
in Dumagete City, but first I had to endure a long bus ride to get here. Crossing the mountain spine of the island was pleasant, this is a beautiful place with miles of sugar cane, coconut palms and banana trees, very nice I even stayed awake most of the time.
This city I like already so I will use it as a base to see the islands and sights nearby, more on that next time.
